Choosing the right security camera system for your home

Good quality IP camera brands such as Avigilon and Mobotix offer the kinds of solutions explained in this video.

Here we consider the latest in home video surveillance technologies that can proactively protect your home 24/7.

Before deciding on how many security cameras you will need for your home and what type, decide which of the following two security camera systems will be best suited for your home:

Reactive Surveillance System:
This is a traditional system that can record video when “an event” occurs, such as motion. The recorded video can be played back for the purpose of positively identifying “who did what”.

Proactive Surveillance System:
The proactive system represents the latest in home video surveillance technologies. It allows home owners to be instantly notified when intruders enter the front or rear yard, before they can break and enter.

This system is designed to prevent crime from occurring by notifying you immediately if human activity is detected around your home. This is the most effective kind of home security system and far more effective than reactive surveillance systems and alarm monitoring services.

Once you have decided which of the above two security camera system is best for your home – Proactive or Reactive, you are then ready to check out our IP Surveillance Starter Guide which answers 7 key questions buyers should consider before buying a system –

The proactive system demonstrated in this video is manufactured by MOBOTIX.

  1. Thanks for the info.

Simon says… Get the FREE guide. Where? Clicked on the download link and it tells me its $5.99 on iTunes.
    Gronk confused!?!?!?!

  2. One of the BEST educational videos on surveillance systems! At 4:48 of the video, it showed that two cameras, back and front is all you really need. What about the two sides, shouldn't a minimum of four cameras be better? Thank you very much!

  3. do not get the IR RED LED CAMERAS , IR RED/purple looking LED LIGHTS can be easily seen with cell phone cameras and is not a good idea to get!!! get the anti glare security cameras instead , the whole idea is to catch them on camera so the bad guy count going down!! if they see the red /purple lights at night with using a slow mo camera they can see your camera set up and now your neighbor just got robbed and you have no image of the person who did the crime. everyone should get anti glare security cameras for the outside!!!! let's really take a bite out of crime this time!!!
