Tesla and SolarCity have just unveiled a new series of solar roofs that look almost indistinguishable from traditional ones, and are said to cost the same amount of money.

    • +If you support Donal J. Trump you are a regressive Could you be kind and
kill Hillary Clinton, you might stop those riots and become a hero!

    • VSI0 Species are going extinct at 1000 times the natural rate. Also, it’s
been proven that the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are human produced.
Let’s see. There are more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere than ever
before. Species are dying out at a rate never before seen. The ice at the
North Pole is melting so fast that there may be no more ice at the poles by
2050. Habitat destruction is happening faster than ever before. Conclusion?
      Global warming is real.

  1. As an architect I must say that this could really be a game changer. Let’s
just hope it doesn’t cost a kidney and a leg

  2. once I heard “each tile is unique” I already knew the cost… I really want
solar to take over but its so much more costly than oil

  3. no technical details? how much power will it generate ? how easy will it be
to clean off dirt or snow? cost? weight? anything?

    • Its still new to the world and its a HUGE investment. Obviously he just
wants to come across as real and share his ideas to benefit all of us
      rather than sell a product

    • YexaC,

      Sigh.

First of all, no they don’t. There have been countless ideas and products
that were great but were not successful. In an ideal world, the best ideas
and products would be successful and the mediocre products that happen to
have the money, marketing to great salesman behind it would fail. But we
      live in reality.

Secondly, you’re completely missing my point. Elon Musk insists on being
the face and spokesman for all his products, but he’s a poor spokesman, and
it makes it hard to watch.

    • Andy Pagakis,

He’s doing a fabulous job at what he does best. But as a spokesman, he’s
got a long way to go.

I really fail to understand why I’m apparently not allowed to criticize
this one aspect of Musk. I’m not criticizing his business acumen (or “a
cumin”, as Trump calls it), or ability to change the world , or a whole
host of other things. I’m saying what is fairly obvious to anyone with any
      semblance of impartiality.

    • Ideas should stand or fall on their own merit*

      I don’t think he’s a bad spokesman. I think he’s a little overrated and I
      think he also thinks that.

  4. Impressive! I still fail to understand how on Earth late Steve Jobs managed
to dislike Elon; after all, Musk is one man who matched Steve genius,
albeit a different type. And is shy nature adds to his charm.

    • Mateusz Felix I was thinking how easily the world will transition from
fossil fuel consumption to clean solar energy if only two more Billionaires
joined him… did a merger or something …

apparently no one else will …
he’s the only guy who’s doing it
